Croydon U9 teams unbeaten in 6 games Croydon Hawks and Croydon Eagles (under 9s) played in the 5th London Korfball Association tournament at Epsom College on Sunday 13th Feb. Both teams played superbly well in all their matches, winning or drawing every single one. Hawks won one game, and drew the other two whilst Eagles won two games and drew one. The players, who have been regularly training on Thursday evenings at Royal Russell school, showed just how much they have improved over the last 6 months, looking increasingly confident on the pitch. All the players are now shooting when free, and their defending causes problems for all the opposition teams. Highlights of the day include; - Zach scoring the winning goal against Nomads, as the final whistle was being blown - Hayley speeding back to defend a girl well over a foot taller than herself, and getting a defended decision in her favour - Oscar racing from one side of the pitch to the other to scoop up loose balls - Yazzie scoring 3 wonderful goals, 2 of them in the same match - Adil defending tirelessly, and tracking back to stop the opposition boys from scoring - Joy scoring the winning goal against Bec, as the final whistle was being blown (such an exciting game) - and yes they did win two of the matches after scoring goals when the final whistle was going!
