CKC Announce New Club Coaching Team

Since Steve Jones’ surprise departure due to a change to his playing schedule the committee have been quick to appoint replacements. To complement Dave Butter’s squad coaching on Tuesdays, Paul Jeanes will lead a coaching team with Zu Omar and Dan Pratt on Thursday nights. This killer combination will mix brains, experience, and new ideas. [We’re not saying who brings what].

On announcing the appointments, CKC Chair Dave Smith said “I think it shows the strength in depth in the club that CKC has the internal expertise to provide 3 coaches who each bring different skills and ideas. I'm so impressed with their ideas I even plan to come along to Thursday sessions myself – fellow players will know that I was injured for last season.” [No-one on the committee was available to comment on that last statement.]

Paul Jeanes is very positive about his new role; “I'm very pleased to have been asked by the committee to lead the new coaching team for club training. I look forward to working with Zu and Dan to develop players from the 3rd ,4th teams and beginners, and build on the work that Dave does with the squad.” Paul has already given an early flavour of what to expect, “For us, the aims are to give the 3rd / 4th team a template style of play that mirrors or at least would allow players who want to to move successfully up to the squad without a huge culture shock. There will be specific time for both 3rd/4th and 1st/2nd team development. We also aim to improve players' agility, ball control, and goal scoring ability.”

There was also some mention of fitness training but we don’t want to put Dave Smith off too early on… We look forward to seeing all of you Thursday at 7.45 at Shirley High!
