Ali Rotheram Retires Alison Rotheram After the recent BKA cup final, Ali has announced her retirement from korfball after over 20 years of playing. Ali started playing korfball at the age of 14 circa 1981. She worked her way into the 1st team by the age of 18 and represented Great Britain at this age group (including a memorable trip to Spain where, being the 8th girl, she didn't get to play!) before going to university and returning as 1st team regular at the age of 21. Ali went on to play for the full senior GB team and has been in the Croydon 1st team ever since apart from stopping to have Rebecca and Jessica. As far as medals, Ali played in the championship winning side of 1996 and has several cup winners and runners-up medals including the latter for the 2002/03 season. Her competitive streak and long shooting will be missed by her team-mates, as will Dave and the ankle biters on the sidelines! Story by Andy · 22 years ago
