Croydon bounce back in second half

So Croydon 4 faced up to Bec 3 with only 7 in their team as Nigel has been poached by the thirds:(.
In first attack was Alice, Jade, David and Bryan whilst Corinne, Char and Jon were to hold the fort at the other end.
As usual, Bec 3 played an aggressive front defence and also had some tall players especially the spare man at Corrine's end. This meant that the two girls had to play out of their skins which they duly did because Jon was preoccupied with the guy who could shoot. They would both have got MVP but for the fact that Char was sent flying at one point (by the tall guy)!
That is not to belittle the efforts at the other end where everyone was making space and shots were flying in. We held our own for the first ten minutes but by the end of the half were 10-4 down. A really creditable performance.
Cue Steve Wright. He came on as the fourth boy and suddenly the game was on. We matched them goal for goal and their front defence was their undoing with a number of well taken drop offs. Jon got 3 from am identical position on the court within 10 minutes and in future games will be seen loitering there as it is clearly his range. David was bouncing around the post as usual and slotted 3 with Bryan and Corinne getting 2 each, I think from mid-distance. Strangely no running in shots but that may have been due to the front defence. But Alice Jade and Char all had notable efforts against very experienced (and tall) opponents.
No one let their heads drop and it was a much better performance than when we played them away. Well done eveyone.

(Oh yes, unfortunately it had to be a friendly because Steve was ineligible)
