Croydon 1 glimpsed an upset but let it go in the second half against Trojans 1

Croydon 1 played their second game in as many days, but this didn't seem to dampen their play. The team seems to have left it somewhat late in the day, but are starting to play like a National League team now.

Croydon scored first, through a classic Stimpson shot from distance, and it looked for a time as if the league leaders might actually be overcome by the league strugglers.

For the first 25 minutes of the game Croydon were more or less matching Trojans, much to the surprise of the opposition. From 3-9 down after 10 minutes, Croydon pulled the score back to 11-13, and Trojans had to call a timeout to sort themselves out.

Their superior scoring started to show, and it was this that was making the difference, as Croydon was making plenty of opportunities, but their shots were just not dropping.

The final score was flattering to Trojans, but Croydon will be pleased with their team play today, and will perhaps rue that they haven't shown this level of play all season.

Croydon 4 turn around early season loss with accomplished win over Mitcham 2

Croydon 4 turned up with 10 players for this chilly afternoon encounter but that stickler for the rules, Luke, would only let us field 8 at a time!

Mitcham had a couple of dropdowns so we waited for them to set out before having Sarah (W), Keri, Bryan and Phil as first defence with Beccy, Julie, Mike and David as first attack. The game got off to a slow start but after about 5 minutes I think it was the newcomer to Mitcham who opened the scoring-oh oh. Memories of the 20-6 defeat earlier in the season came flashing back. But these days Croydon 4 are made of sterner stuff and were all playing well for each other, moving off the ball and creating chances , especially from drop offs round the basket, and it was from one of these that David scored the equalizer from about 2m. This was followed by Sarah, firstly from about 3m and then directly under the post. Keri and Mike also had chances that rolled around the rim.Not to be outdone David scored one long shot and then a running in shot so we came in at half time 5-1 up.

In the second half Lizzie fitted seamlessly into the attack but the first part was all about what might have been for Phil. Chasing his one hundredth goal for the club he had 2 disallowed for being defended before eventually slotting one in from about 4m. There followed a long period with no goals although Bryan went close a couple of times. This meant that at the other end there was some fairly feisty defending from Beccy and Julie in particular. Eventually David sunk another from 4m to bring the scoreline to a close. A good team effort so well done everyone. When asked about why he was so red hot today with 4 goals David admitted he had turned the heater on his motorbike seat up to full!

Next up are Supernova 4 at everyone's favourite ground Millwall. We beat them by just one goal at RR and we are just a point behind them in the league so do post your availability
