Croydon Eagle and Hawks star in National Championships
Croydon Eagles and Hawks started the tournament with a tough fixture against Kingvicta. Due to some late arrivals Croydon fielded some borrowed players and this seemed impact their play as the failed to find the net, losing 3-0.
Next up were Tornadoes and Croydon were able to field more of their own team and Blake was soon on the goal sheet with 2 goals as was Elle with 2 and Leah McLeod scored her first goal of the day. Hayley came on to score her first goal as well. Croydon strolled to an easy 6-3 win.
West London Wildcats were the next opponents and they used their superior organisation to grind out a 7-4 win but Elle and Macaulay scored and top scorer, Blake, also found the net in a 7-4 loss. Niamha also had a good game. Bearstead Rams gave Croydon a tough match game and were comfortable throughout and recorded an 8-1 win with Macaulay the only Croydon player to score.
The final match was against Scorpions. Croydon were all over them throughout the game and the goals were shared out throughout the team with Emma, Leah, Blake and Macaulay getting 2 each and Hayley also finding the basket. Vicky and Hayley were dominating their opponents and Scorpions were unable to get the ball into their attack at times. Croydon were able to take shot after shot as they dominated the post, the only blot on a great performance was the penalty that Scorpions scored as the buzzer went but by then Croydon were out of sight. Final score 10-1.
Well played all and special thanks should also go to the girls for playing as boys in some of the early matches.
