Airsoft Mission
Croydon took on Bec in an Airsoft night operation at a old WW2 bunker.
In the 1st mission, coded named "Operation Bullshit", privates Jeanes (P) and Withers (A) were quickly dispatched but the rest of the troop showed great patience, resolve and "black ops" skills in picking off the enemy intruders one by one, before getting a bit bored and storming the Bec base with Private Otter out front to secure the victory.
In the 2nd mission, coded name "Operation Football", the hapless duo changed roles and defended the base and again Croydon prevailed with a patient victory behind enemy lines, this time captain Zu led the way catching ring leader Liam Clarke with his proverbials down by his ankles. In the final mission against the boys from Bec, coded named "Operation Bin Laden", Croydon played the role of terrorists wanting to blow up a nuclear reactor. This role-playing came easier to some than others and 30 minutes later sleeper operative, Zu, was still sitting on the toilet in complete pitch black protected by privates Jeanes (A), Mills (S) and Withers (A) while the rest of the troop searched for the weak points in the reactor. Patience prevailed as the young guns of Bec were again picked off by father and son combo Butters and stormtroopers Aish, Belfourd, Heath, Otter and Withers (S). With time running out private Withers and captain, and chief terrorist threat, Zu, located the reactor weak point and started the countdown but, despite no enemy fire, time ran out and the mission was aborted.
In the final mission, the collective Korfball community took on the enormous firepower of the barons of bunker. Despite out-numbering the top guns by 6 to 1, the flash-bangs were very effective in causing fear, awe and confusion and many lives were lost (mostly in friendly fire incidents - private Jeanes (A)'s court marshall will be held next week). Eventually the enemy were forced back in the ensuing gun battles and well and truly nailed on all sides in the alamo-style showdown by the korfball marauders.
