Croydon finish 1st and 2nd at Woking Tournament
Two mixed ability teams played at the Woking Tournament in Addlestone on Sunday. The first game, a clear grudge match, was the decider as it turned out with Croydon 1 vs Croydon 2. Croydon 2 played in some lurid green slime bibs that reminded many of some other club and this proved decisive as Croydon 1 edged out winners by one goal. Croydon 2 also lost to to Reading City but Croydon were otherwise victorious all day, eventually being placed 1st and 2nd at the (mini) tournament ahead of Reading City, Woking and Basingstoke Bulls.
Personal highlights were Jon Dean reacting to a slight "out of hands" call by rugby tackling his man to the ground, Lorna's "collecting" and Zoe's new boots.
Good fun was had by all.
Late Addition News:
The tournament organisers had managed to secure excellent flat pitches, lovely sunshine (not too hot) and a wonderful play area for the youngest 4 supporters. What more could we ask for? As a start to the season to get us back into the swing of running, catching and shooting, it couldn't have been better.
And of course the better of the two Croydon teams won on the day ...
